Obituary of Douglas Charles Witherspoon

WITHERSPOON, Douglas C. Died peacefully, at Toronto, on Monday, May 22, 2006 in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Barbara Burns. Dear brother of Mary (Mrs. Donald Elliott) and the late Jack and Bruce. Will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Doug�s warm personality and dedication to the tasks were hallmarks in a career that took him from shoe salesman to President of Dr. Scholls Canada. Dr. Scholls Canada became a part of Shering-Plough International and Doug was President of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. His readiness and ability to help others brought him a lifetime of contributing through the Canadian Commercial Travellers Association and the Rotary Club of Toronto. Doug was the President of the Rotary Club of Toronto (1993-94) and he received the Paul Harris Fellowship, the William Peace Award and was a Rotary Distinguished Award Winner. Mostly the rewards of rich friendship and lives touched were reason enough for his all out participation. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25th at 11 o�clock at LEASIDE UNITED CHURCH, 822 Millwood Avenue. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
