HANNON, Laura Janet (nee Renaud)
May 30, 1928 - September 29, 2012
Peacefully after a lengthy illness. Janet, beloved wife of the late Matthew S. Hannon, QC. Mother of Matthew (Paula Goldwarg), Sally (Howard Barton), Jane (Brian Connor), Gregory (Martha Osler) and Kathryn (Rick Crawley); Granny of Matthew, Lindsay, Will, Spencer, Karen, Laura, Sarah, Gillian, Peter, Julia and Meredith. Janet also leaves her brother Harry Renaud (Barbara), her brother-in-law Allan McKay and her sister-in-law Dot Renaud and their families. She was predeceased by her sisters Anne McKay and Mar-Mae Renaud, by her brother John Renaud and by her sister-in-law Margaret Van Horne. Born in Ottawa to J. Harry and Agnes "Dimp" Renaud, Janet grew up in Montreal. She worked at the Law Faculty at McGill University where she met her future husband, Matthew, and they settled in Montreal. Janet had resided in Toronto for the last 22 years. Janet was an avid golfer and served as the President of the Ladies' Branch of The Royal Montreal Golf Club from 1972 to 1973. She was also an active member of The Mount Bruno Country Club, The Toronto Golf Club, The Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto and The Mount Royal Club of Montreal. Janet was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed by both family and friends. Thanks to Dr. S.E. Morch, the staff of The Russell Hill Retirement Residence, The Toronto Western Hospital and Staff Relief for their exceptional care. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3. Funeral Mass will be held in THE HOLY ROSARY CHURCH, 354 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto on Thursday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Private interment will be held in Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery in Montreal. If desired, a donation made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.
