Dear family: I first met Jim Hunt when I delivered the Leaside Advertiser, Wednesdays or Thursdays, to a home just up from the Library. I was hockey-mad in those days, a Leaf fan who used to listen to games at night on a small portable radio and dream of exotic cities like Chicago and New York. Your husband/Dad would, on collection night, never fail to be generous with both the dime for the paper or his time to talk shop. I remember him as kind, and tall, and always smiling. Years later, when my first job took me to the Toronto Star, first on King St. and then at the lake, I met him again. It was like Dorian Grey--no change in appearance, and more importantly, no change in attitude. Some of our sense of immortality must be in living on in the memories of those we leave behind. I spent part of the weekend talking to my late-in-life son, and the hockey-crazed six-year-old son of my significant other, the contribution and legacy of Jim Hunt. My thoughts are with you. My husband and I used to commute from Mississauga to North York for work. I was forced to listen to THE FAN as my husband is a sports fanatic. After a while, I looked forward to Jim's show because he made me laugh. If I had to commute on my own, I would have the radio on THE FAN because of your husband/dad. He brought a smile to many and will be missed. Our sincere condolences.

I wish to express my condolences to you Caroline and your family. You met me once when I was a teenager. My Mother was Orva Basset ( Lorie John - married name). My grandmother was Lyla Bassett (nee Heel). One of Maizies's sisters. I used to visit Maizie in London Ontario along with Aunt Orva. I was a flight attendant in those days and had frequent layovers in London, On. I think the last time I spoke with Jim was when my mother passed away. My heart goes out to you very much in deed. I lost my husband in February of 2005. call or e-mail me if you wish. 905 844 5379 I live in Oakville. Jay Ritter
