WORTS, Mary Palmer
On Sunday, January 29, Mary departed this mortal coil peacefully at the age of 88 in Toronto. Predeceased by her husband, Robert Davies Worts in 1985, Mary is survived by her four loving children: Robert (Anne), David (Susan), Douglas (Catharine) and Suzanne, her elder sister Elizabeth Graydon, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Born March 4, 1917 in San Diego, Mary grew up in Toronto attending BSS, and then Elmwood in Ottawa. Summers were spent at Chimo in Temagami and Camp Tanamakoon in Algonquin, before a finishing year in Switzerland. While her husband was stationed in England in 1943, Mary joined Bob as a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross Overseas, and continued as a Red Cross volunteer for 50 years in Canada. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends in Canada, the US, Australia & UK. A special thanks to the nurses and caregivers on 2 West, Walker Wing, at Belmont House. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Belmont House Foundation (www.belmonthouse.com), the Canadian Red Cross or another charity of choice would be gratefully appreciated. There will be a funeral service at St. James-the- Less Chapel, 635 Parliament Street, Toronto at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2006. Ashes will be interred at St. James Cemetery at a later date.
