Obituary of John Charles Bird

BIRD, John Charles Suddenly at his Toronto home on Sunday, February 26, 2006 in his 83rd year. Loving husband of his bride Dolores. John will be deeply missed by his children, Laura (Leo), Valerie Bennett (Richard), Tim (Anne) and Patricia Gallant (Allen). Proud grandfather to Michelle, Graham, Heather, Chad, Michael, Kristin, Stephen, Jennifer, Stephanie, Jessey, Brian, Katelyn, Melanie and 2 great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by his sister, Ethel. Predeceased by brother Bailey, sister Pearl and eldest son Peter. John was very active in the music community as President of Gordon V. Thompson Music Publishers, The Canadian Music Publishers Association of Canada (now SOCAN), Ontario Choral Federation (Chorus Ontario), The Festival Singers (now Elmer Iseler Singers), Canadian Reproduction Rights Association (CMRRA), Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Casa Loma and served on the Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Music Festival Association and the Church Music Publishers Association (U.S.A.). The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 2nd. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 3rd at 10 o�clock in OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP CHURCH, 78 Clifton Road. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery with a reception to follow.
