Jeannette Legge

Obituary of Jeannette Johnson Legge

LEGGE, Jeannette E. (nee Johnson) Peacefully in her sleep, at the Briton House on Wednesday, November 30, 2005. After 101 years of love, generosity and good humour, the grand lady of the Johnson, Tait, Morris and Legge families has left us. Predeceased by her dear husband Stuart C. Legge, brothers David O. Johnson and Wellington O. Johnson and niece Carol Morris (Hugh). Beloved aunt to Janice Tait, Gwynnette Johnson, Doug Johnson (Ruth) and Dianne Strickland (Jim) and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Sister-in-law to Kenneth C. Legge and the late Marguerite. Her life was filled with many passions: learning, mineralogy, travel, golf, curling the cottage at Big Bay Point and most of all her family. She welcomed many to her life, inspiring us all with her strength of character, generosity of spirit and lifelong genuine curiosity about people and life. She will be missed. A private memorial service will be held. If desired, donations in Jeannettes memory may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (C.N.I.B.), 1929 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4G 3E8.
