Ellen will forever be in my heart. The years we lived on the farm with them were the best years of our life. Both Ellen and Roger taught me such positive lessons I still practice today. I will remember always.
With Love...

Those we love and respect leave an everlasting effect,
Their memories never fade,
They are never gone, they just move on.
May she rest in peace.

My memories of Ellen (only!!) go back to the early 1980's when I was introduced to her by her Australian friends Bill and Rhonda Blackshaw. Ellen was always the consumate hostess, and provided many great meals both at Avoca and at her beloved Granite Club. I shall always remember, with great fondness, her 90th birthday celebration when I found myself seated at one of the head tables, and then found myself seated immediately beside her. It has been a great honour and privelidge to have known her. With great fondness from the Magowans of Toronto and Hillsborough.

I have many good memories of Ellen. She was a dynamic woman, a leader in the congregation of Bloor Street, a trailblazer for women in business. It was only natural when Ellen moved to Belmont House that she would also offer leadership there. I so appreciated her hospitality after Sunday evening services. She was the consummate hostess, making everyone feel at home, and gently guiding the conversation. Especially when I was just beginning my ministry at BSUC, I appreciated her wisdom and guidance. A very classy lady!

My son, Andrew, and daughter, Heather, join me in passing on our sympathy to Ellen's family and friends. We knew Ellen through my mother-in-law, the late Dorothy Hobbs -- both were members of that redoubtable institution, the Geneva Group, which had its origins, I believe, in a CGIT group of decades ago. Dorothy valued Ellen's friendship greatly.

Ellen Vincent was one of the finest people I have ever had the privilege to know, When I fisrt met Ellen in 1965, she was fifty years old and I was twenty-one. She was incredibly important to me as a friend, mentor and a model of wise living. My son, Roger Vincent Hardy, is named after Ellen's beloved husband, Roger Linfield Vincent, my daughter Michaela is Ellen's Godchild. Both of these are testaments to my admiration for her and our close bond. My favorite memories of Ellen include times spent together at Brockton Farm near Georgetown, often in the company of Norma Dickson. These memories include joyful gatherings for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners (which we cooked together in the large kitchen). Ellen would often enrich this time with marvellous storytelling. Later there were also very happy vacations together at Hoyt's Neck, Biddeford Pool in Maine. Ellen was an extremely successful and admired business woman who mentored many other women in her accelerated career at A.C. Nielson Market Research where she went on to become a Director of the company. For this I admired her enormously. Her stewardship in the United Church of Canada, particularly at Bloor Street United Church was exemplary. As a woman, Ellen epitomized strength, generosity of spirit and service to others. Farewell dearest friend; you will be missed.

Ellen was the most compassionate and giving person I have ever met. The 15 years we lived on the farm with them were the best years of my life. She will truly be missed by many. My deepest sympathy to Christopher and family.
