Obituary of Nancy Jean Wood
WOOD, Nancy Jean
(September 25, 1923 - November 5, 2005)
Daughter of the late Edna and Kenneth Wood, dear sister of Richard and his wife Susan, of Cambridge. Dearest aunt and godmother of Catherine Hetherington (Gord), aunt of David Wood (Joanne), Timothy Wood (Holly) and Ian Wood (Lisa) and great-aunt of Robin, Andrew, Maggie, Jamie, Maxwell, Parker, Christopher, Michael, Finn and Shelby. Nancy passed away suddenly at Toronto General Hospital as a result of complications following major surgery. Nancy was a long-term employee of Imperial Oil Limited and provided devoted, and lengthy service to many organizations. She held a special interest in The Canadian National Institute for the Blind where she continued for many years the dedicated work of her parents, serving in many capacities including several years on the National Board. Nancy was a keen golfer as a member of the Toronto Golf Club, an avid duplicate bridge player and crossword puzzle addict. Nancy will be sadly missed by the family, many friends in Toronto, Hamilton and her beloved Lake of Bays, and by her pet retriever and devoted companion, Sherry. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9 with a reception to follow. Donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 1929 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4G 3E8, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated.
