N. ALLEN SWEETMAN
(1902-2005)
Retired (1970) Associate Director of Education for Toronto Schools. Allen was born November 1, 1902 on Scugog Island, near Port Perry, and passed away October 26, 2005, at Christie Gardens, in Toronto. Son of the late Sina and George Sweetman. Predeceased by brothers John, Franklin, Luzerne and sister Myrtle, as well as his wife of 51 years Elizabeth Fullerton. Wise and loving father of Ann Hillmer. Most precious grandfather of Beth and Judy, and great-grandfather of Alia, Lindsay, James, Zachary and Natalie. The enduring friendship of sister-in-law Alice, and the Sweetman and Fullerton family nieces and nephews gave great pleasure to Allen in his later years; as did the countless remembrances of fellow educators and former pupils. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to the Residential Care Staff at Christie Gardens for the years of comfortable and purposeful life Allen enjoyed there and the tender care he received at the end. A service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), on Saturday, October 29th at 2 oclock with visitation 1 hour prior. If desired, donation in Allens memory may be made to The Nature Conservancy of Canada, 110 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario M4R 1A3 and would be greatly appreciated.
