BEVERLEY ANN HARTWELL "BUNNY" SLATER, BA, MDiv. January 17, 1937 - September 3, 2012 Bunny fought courageously right to the end, battling valiantly against colon cancer for more than 6 years. Bunny was the beloved wife of Bill (William). Wonderful mother of Alex Wylie (Carrie), Brad Wylie (Shelley), Beth MacInnis (Tom), and by marriage to Andrew Slater (An-Louise), and Kathleen Slater. Cherished grandmother to Jack, Brad, and Blake, Benjamin, Cole, T.J., Ailish, Samantha, Malcolm, Max, Grant and Madeleine. Sister to Bill Hartwell, Marion (Jack Fullerton), Beryl (George Tiviluk), Georgina (Ned McLennan). Loving Aunt Bunny to numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Predeceased by her first husband James (Jim) Wylie. Bunny grew up in London, Ontario and was educated at the University of Western Ontario, Trinity College, Toronto and the Royal Conservatory of Music. Bunny had an extraordinary range of interests and talents which she pursued with vigour throughout her life. Bunny excelled at athletics, winning many championships in tennis, skating and swimming. She also had a lifelong love of flowers, serving as President of the Garden Club of Toronto (2004-2006) and exhibiting her flower arrangements at the Club for many years. She became qualified as a Floral Design Judge of the Garden Clubs of Ontario in 2006. She was passionate about music and in addition to avidly attending opera, ballet and symphony concerts, she pursued her love of music and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Cooking was also a special interest and it was always a pleasure to be treated to Bunny's many culinary delights. Above all, Bunny was devoted to her family and many friends who will miss her dearly. Many thanks to the excellent doctors, nurses and staff at the Toronto General, Princess Margaret , and Toronto Western Hospitals and the Provis Clinic for their outstanding care of Bunny and her family The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 9. A Service of Celebration of the wonderful life of Bunny will be held in CHRIST CHURCH DEER PARK, 1570 Yonge Street (west side, two blocks north of St. Clair Avenue) on Monday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto, 25 St. Clair Ave West from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. (limited parking - 2 blocks south of the church).
