Dear Mrs. Ritcey, I was sad to learn of your husband's death, from the notice in the Globe & Mail. Barry and I were good friends in 1948-50, when we both attended Earl Haig Collegiate in Willowdale. But we lost touch after leaving high school For nearly 40 years my wife and I have lived in St. John's, Newfoundland (I was a professor of physics and Earth sciences at Memorial University), so have only infrequently been in Toronto. While I often thought of trying to look up Barry on one of those visits, it was one of those good ideas that I regret never got acted on. I am glad to know he was blessed with a loving family. I realize you will have many letters to write now, but if sometime in the future you would like to write to tell me something about Barry's life I would really appreciate hearing from you. I look back on our friendship, now so long ago, with warm memories. I hope the love of God and your children, and your own memories of life with Barry, will help you bear the loss of his presence until you are reunited with him in the next life. Yours sincerely, Michael Rochester

Dear Sheila and family Please accept my sincere condolences in your sad loss. It was a privilege for me to have been able to meet Barry and to visit him whilst he was ill. Despite the early morning visits, which must have been inconvenient for him, Barry always greeted me with a smile. I so enjoyed my visits to him. My thoughts are with you all Heather Lang

I was greatly saddened to hear of Barry's death, and extend my sympathy to all of you. I have many fond memories of "life with the Ritceys" in Muskoka during my childhood days, and I will always value them. Sincerely, David
