Obituary of Robert Irwin Martin
MARTIN, Robert Irwin, QC
Bob passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 21, at the age of 81. He is predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Barbara Jayne. He leaves behind his beloved wife Sheila, sister Helen, daughter Stephanie, son's Blake and Ian and their partners Susan and Jennie. Loving Poppi to his dear grandchildren Matthew, Jock, Devon and Anika. He will also be greatly missed by Sheila's 5 children, their partners, and her 9 grandchildren.
Born February 5th, 1924 in Toronto, Bob attended Parkdale Collegiate and then served as an Officer and Flight Navigator for the RCAF's 426th Thunderbird Squadron during WWII. After the war, Bob graduated from U of T
and Osgoode Law School. He was your classic old time lawyer. He loved his work, his friendships, the farm, holidaying overseas, salmon fishing on the west coast, double solitaire and a smooth, slightly watered down
scotch. He will always be remembered as a man of truth, integrity and determination, to the end.
At his request, the family will hold a private service. A celebration and remembrance of his life will be held at his home on Tuesday, September 27 beginning at 3:00 PM for friends and colleagues. Flowers respectfully declined. Sheila would like to express her sincere thanks for all the support received from family and friends and especially the St. Elizabeth Nurses.
