Obituary of Olga Iwaniuk
Olga Iwaniuk
Peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital on Sunday, August 19, 2012 in her 89th year, following complications from a stroke. Predeceased by her husband Stepan Goy (1958) and Ivan Iwaniuk (2000). Beloved and proud mother of Luba, Adriana and Marko. Loving Baba to grandchildren Alexandria, Jonathan and Gabriel and great-grandson Evan. Born in Vinnetsia, Ukraine, she immigrated to Canada through Pier 21 and took up residence in Ottawa in 1951. It was there that she worked, raised her three children and remained active in the Ukrainian Community. Olga attended St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Shrine, belonged to the Ukrainian Catholic Woman's League of Canada and taught Ukrainian to young children. She was especially proud of her garden, fine cuisine, preserves, baking, embroidery and knitting. We will always remember her traditional holiday dinners. She was a kind, gentle and generous person who was loved by all. The family wish to thank the Administrator Ulana Weleschuk, the staff and caregivers of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Seniors Residence, Fr. Petro Dvirnik for his prayers and visits, and nurses Lucia and Melody for their compassion, care and kindness. We are also grateful to the staff at the Scarborough General Hospital for their outstanding care. A private funeral will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles Chapel Limited, Toronto. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
