Obituary of Eda Dora Eisenhuth Black

BLACK, Eda Dora Eisenhuth (Lawson) Died Sunday, May 29th,2005 in her 93rd year. A petite, classic beauty, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Dr. Leslie W. Black in 1974. They had met at the Toronto East General and Orthopedic Hospital where she was a nurse and he an orthopedic surgeon. Eda was the last surviving of seven siblings born to Herbert Julius Lawson and his wife Aileen Lillian-Leigh. Mrs. Black was instrumental in the creation of the Women�s Auxiliary of the Toronto East General Hospital. She loved her golfing days at the Rosedale Golf Club, her investment group and she was an avid Bridge player. She leaves behind her sons Malcolm, Leslie and Robin and their wives Gretchen, Ilse and Mary. She will be long remembered by her grandchildren Lindsay, Ben, Noah and Lucas. She was a loving aunt to Michael and Hugh Innes. The family is grateful to the staff at the Central Park Lodge - Spadina, especially Narma, Tsering, Mia and Janice for their loving care and also to Dr. Sydney Smart. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31st. A funeral service will be held at CHRIST CHURCH DEER PARK, 1570 Yonge Street at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1st. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
