Obituary of Mary Jessie McGown

McGOWN, Mary Jessie Died quietly on Friday, May 13, 2005, one day short of her 82nd birthday. She was a loving and generous mother to Christine and David, sister to Don, Ann, and Edna, mother-in-law to Rima and Rob, and grandmother to Katie, Michael, Taryn, Gavin, Joshua and Sarah, but she loved perhaps most of all her late husband Keith with whom she spent over 50 years of her life. Mary spent much of her life changing gears. Born in Scotland, she moved to Canada as a child, and then continued to move, from Chatham to Toronto, to Uxbridge, to Sudbury, to Winnipeg, to Milton, to Barrie, and finally back to Toronto. Mary had a warm heart and a wry sense of humour and she was loved wherever she lived. She leaves behind a well-worn address book full of the names of loyal longtime and recent friends. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17. A service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 20 Holly Street, Suite 101, Toronto, Ontario M4S 3B1, in lieu of flowers.
