BIGGS, Barbara (nee Barrett)
Passed away in Toronto, on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of Stanley C. Biggs QC, LSM, who survives her. Devoted mother of Christopher, R. Barrett, John and Dinny. She will be sadly missed by in-laws Margo, Caitlin, and Abraham, and their children Yoseff, Leroy, Jeffrey, Aleshia, Meghan, Joshua and Naomi. Barbara was the founder of the Toronto School of Art, a successful private non-profit school now in its 36th year and to which she gave her considerable energy and dedication. Her contagious enthusiasm, especially for younger students, encouraged many to find successful careers as artists or to pursue further studies at graduate art colleges. In 1991, she received the Lescarbot Award from the Government of Canada in recognition of her outstanding contribution to cultural activities. A memorial service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), on Saturday, January 15th at 3 o�clock. Reception to follow.
