Obituary of Edmund Osborne

Edmund Osborne It is with great remorse that we announce the passing of Edmund Osborne, consumate gentleman at age 93. Life began in Arnprior, Ontario, where Ed graduated high school and started his banking career. This was interrupted by World War II, in which he served with distinction as a squadron leader in the RCAF. After the war, Ed resumed his career with the Bank of Nova Scotia. He loved the art of business, his stocks and the business section of the Globe and Mail. But he loved his wife more, and proved to be the best husband there could be. Later in life, at 85 he lost his sight and this is where he showed his greatest bravery; never a complaint, always trying to adjust to the new world. Shortly after this, it became apparent that he was suffering from Alzheimers. And again he would discuss this development without complaint but rather apologies to his loved ones. Two years ago when his needs became too difficult to manage, he entered the Veterans Wing of Sunnybrook. After 68 years of marriage, Ed has left his wife Dorothy Gray, his beloved daughter Debbie Trevelyan, her husband Lake, Ed's best friend, and 4 treasured grandchildren, Chris and wonderful wife Kirsten Vincze, Kelly, Lindsay and Jenny (and soon to be husband David Banwell). He also leaves his son Ed and granddaughter Courtney. He was predeceased by his father, Harry Osborne, mother, Edith (Williams) and sister, Ann Decker. He will be sorely missed. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10. If desired, donations may be sent to the C.N.I.B. 1929 Bayview Avenue, Toronto M4G 3E8. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
