Eric Seon

Obituary of Eric Seon

SEON, Eric Percy Suddenly at home on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in his 97th year. Eric leaves his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy Yvonne (nee Carter). Eric and Dorothy met at a dance in Yorkshire, UK, where Eric was stationed with RCAF Bomber Command during WWII. After the war Dorothy joined thousands of British war brides crossing the Atlantic to reunite with husbands in Canada. Dorothy and Eric set up house in Leaside and raised four children: Janette (Paris), Newfoundland; Kathy (Andy), New Zealand; Chris (Vicki), Newmarket; Pat (Peter), Ottawa. He was also a loving and memorable grandfather to his five grandchildren: Melissa (Dirk), Andreas, Carter, Morgan and Andrew (Katie). Eric's greatest passions were his family, his music and his much loved cottage on Lake Scugog, where a perfect day would include spending time in his boat on the water. He loved to play the piano, and did so right up until his death. Eric's piano stylings will be missed by the residents of the Cummer Lodge Home for the Aged where he regularly volunteered to accompany the sing song group. His piano at home is uncharacteristically quiet. Eric Seon was a self-made man. After university he settled at Ontario Electrical Construction Company Ltd. where he began as a bookkeeper and retired as Vice President at the age of 72. We are grateful for the exceptional care of Dr. Jocelyn Charles of Sunnybrook Family Practice and her team. We extend special thanks to dear family friends David Stickney and Janet Stickney for their loyal, loving care as 'honourary members' of our family, and to neighbours Peter and Debbie Goulimis whose attentive fondness for our father will not be forgotten. Thanks also to home caregivers Perla, Arlyn, Lucy and Rey, among others, who provided excellent, ongoing care to Dad over the last few years. A celebration of his life will be held in the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Sunday, June 5 at 1:00 p.m. In memory of his delight in making music for people, we request donations in lieu of flowers to 'Cummer Lodge Volunteers Program', Cummer Lodge Home for the Aged, 205 Cummer Avenue, North York M2M 2E8. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
