With great sadness while in Europe, I was just informed on the passing of Louis Odette.Bud was a truly remarkable man who energized those around him with his charismatic character and drive to better people’s lives through his many interests and pursuits. He was visionary who had the right values of generosity and being a fair man with his time, interests and visionary ideas, with various charities and the Arts he endowed, a true rarity in today’s world. His positive nature and getting things done will be very much missed by all. Rest in Peace it was an honour knowing you.

More than 25 years ago I first met Bud in his offices on St. Clair Ave where he was chairing a meeting of the Sunny View School Foundation Board of Directors. He continued with this challenging work which highlighted his interest in the education of physically challenged children. After many years of this leadership he passed the torch to his son Marc with whom I continue to work. Everything he touched Bud made better - I still remember things such as his creation of the Adventure Centre at Sunny View School where challenged children could enjoy fun, stimulation and independence. I will miss him as I'm sure will all those whose lives he touched!

When we saw the obituary, we were reminded of the times we shared together - the sculpture park in upper NY state with the Strongs, the visit with you and Bud in Florida and of course the relationship on the development front. Bud was always positive - there were no boundaries that couldn't be overcome - he inspired everyone around him. His contribution to the advancement and appreciation of sculpture especially the abstract genre was very significant - and we speak of this from a personal perspective in that he encouraged and helped Bruce to actually take up the spatula and produce a few pieces. It wouldn't have happened were it not for Bud - and our lives are richer as a result. Our deepest sympathies are with you Pat and your family. Donna and Bruce Heyland

Dear Odette Family, My entire family is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Odette. He was a cherished, lifelong friend to my father, Bill Watson. My mother, Connie Watson, sends her condolences and asked me to mention how fond she is of Bud and Pat. She sadly bids farewell to a dear friend. Specifically, my sister Joan, brother Peter and I will never forget Mr. Odette's unfailing kindness to our father when he underwent heart surgery at St. Michael's hospital in 1999. My father and Mr. Odette were boyhood friends at Rondeau Park. It was a friendship that lasted their lifetimes. He will be deeply missed. With sympathy, Martha Watson
