Obituary of Colin Friesen
Colin Erdman Friesen
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Colin Erdman Friesen at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Loving husband and life-partner to Muriel (Garlough); devoted father to daughters and sons-in-law Kathy & Court Priestman, Nora Bradley, Margaret Friesen Stowe and Marilla & Sean Bray; fun-loving Poppa to Joshua, Miranda, Zachary, Emmett, Dawson, Arielle, Michaela and Quinn; loyal brother to Douglas (Doreen) Friesen, predeceased by Norman, Luetta, Alfred, Gordon, Leona, Howard and Eleanor; proud son of the late Abraham James and Elise Friesen. As an officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Colin and his squadron flew 32 successful missions over Europe during WWII, however, he took most pride in his final missions which involved dropping food parcels over Holland. After the war, he was employed by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and worked as a manger in branches throughout southern Ontario. In 1962, Colin was appointed Founding Bursar of Massey College and for the next 25 years he enjoyed the world of academia. Following his retirement from Massey College, he satisfied a lifelong interest in the law while working for the next ten years as a registrar in the provincial courts. Colin will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14.
