Obituary of Vera Anthony

ANTHONY, Vera Gwendoline (nee Parry) It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Vera Anthony at the Toronto East General Hospital on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 88 years of age. Predeaceased by her dear husband Leslie Anthony (2003) and dear son Jeffrey Anthony (1992). Loving mother of Kenneth and his wife Colleen of Bracebridge, and Brian and his wife Cindy of East York. Grandmother of Andrew, Gregory, Phillip, Katherine, Meaghan and her husband Neil. Dear sister of Victor Parry and his wife Mavis of London, England, and aunt to Richard, Matthew and Kate. Born February 20, 1923 in Newport, Wales. There, she met the love of her life, Leslie, while he was serving overseas with the Canadian Army during World War II. They were married on June 29, 1944. Leaving England on April 14, 1946 with other young War Brides, she sailed to Canada aboard the hospital ship "Letitia" arriving April 25, 1946. Shortly thereafter, she and Leslie moved to East York, where she proudly resided for 65 years. In addition to raising her family and working for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, she was active in Home & School, Cubs, Scouts, her church, and the East York Danforth Lions Club. Vera was very proud of her family, who mourn her passing. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1. Funeral service will held in ST.
