Obituary of Douglas Davidson
Professor Douglas Drysdale Davidson
It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of Douglas Davidson on April 3, 2011 at the age of eighty-two.
Doug was predeceased by his wife Catherine and is survived by his brother Ronald and stepdaughter Christine Thomson and her son Jeremy, as well as his nieces Robin Tonna (Vincent), Kelly Davidson and nephew Cameron Davidson.
Doug's wife Catherine recognized his passion for film and encouraged him to share his expertise academically. Students who attended Professor Davidson's lectures at York University and colleagues who shared his enthusiasm for film and cinematography will miss Doug.
Doug was a gentleman and humanitarian; a man of integrity and kindness; a gentle soul who developed many friendships. In latter years, long time friend Catherine Lawson and her two sons Thomas and David welcomed Doug into their lives.
The family would like to thank Sherri Maggiacomo, Professors Tereza Barta and Laurinda Hartt-Fournier for their care and friendship.
A memorial service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) at 11 o'clock on Friday, April 29, 2011.
