Obituary of Dorothy Dutton
Dorothy Lillias Dutton
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy Lillias Dutton (nee Stoyle), at home surrounded by her family on Sunday April 24, 2011. Best friend and beloved wife of Ian Ross Dutton for 57 years. Loving mum of Brian (Susan) and Leslie (Paul). Proud grandmother of Michael, Amy and Timmy. Cherished sister of Marnie Stoyle.
While never one to take the spotlight, mum shone in her supporting role, always putting her family and friends first. She was immensely proud of her children, spending countless hours sitting at the rink and never missing a school or sports event. Mum loved to listen to Leslie play in the North York Symphony and was always telling her friends where Brian was travelling next for work. She was a good sport and was always willing to try some new adventures with dad like taking Scottish country dancing lessons, canoe tripping (well sort of) and biking in Europe.
Mum loved the sound of children laughing and in her last few days at home, she relished hearing the neighbourhood children playing outside. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and tennis pals.
The family will receive friends for a memorial reception in the Rosedale Room of the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30.
Please consider a memorial donation to Families for Children, 111 Roseheath Avenue, Toronto M4C 3P6 or online at www.familiesforchildren.ca; an organization that runs an orphanage in India and in Bangladesh, which mum supported for many years.
