My sincere condolence to the family of Dr. Gibbs. I was her secretary in the neonatal unit at Our Lady of Lourdes back in the '80s. I still think of her as being one of the most intelligent and strong women I have ever known. I'm sad that she has passed at such a young age. She has saved many lives and I'm sure she is with the Lord.

We were very saddened to hear about Dr. Gibbs passing. She was our daughter Isabella's pediatrician and was a wonderful and extremely knowledgeable doctor. Her commitment to her patients, her kindness and her infinite patience will be missed. As first time parents, we tended to be quite anxious when Bella was sick but Dr. Gibbs always offered us calm reassurance that things would be okay. We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to her family as you grieve during this difficult time.

It was 1980 and Dr. Gibbs was at Allentown Hospital teaching a core group of nurses about taking care of infants in a NICU. I remember it well especially her teaching us how to insert IV's in an infants scalp with tiny needles because that's all there was at that time. Years later that group of us was able to insert IV's in the scalp when necessary because the younger RN's were not taught that access area and we were called upon as a last resort to put an IV in. I also remember her dedication to the unit as she seldom took time off and slept on a cot (or the floor) in her office. When she got a rare day off and a pediatrican covered for her we often had to call her back because the pediatrician was having all kinds of problems he couldn't solve. Dr. Gibbs was indeed a pioneer in neonatology, a dedicated professional and one who ensured that many premies got a good start in life. I was fortunate to have had her as a teacher and to have worked with her.

Dr.Gibbs will always hold a special place in our hearts for it was almost 30 years ago that she saved our son's life. The Neo-Nat unit at the Allentown Hospital had only opened 6 weeks prior to his 10 week premature birth. It was Dr. Gibbs who provided round-the-clock care to him during those first few days. She so professionally, devotedly and diligently watched over him and gave us, first-time parents, hope, courage and joy. Dr. Gibbs would have been very proud of one of her "kids". He has grown into a wonderful young man, an Ivy league grad, a husband and a new father. My husband and I are so proud to be grandparents to our first granddaughter. If it weren't for Dr. Gibbs' constant attention, wealth of knowledge and gentle instincts, we might not be here 30 years later remembering her with such admiration. When we learned of her sudden passing, we were so saddened. Please accept our deepest condolences and know that she will forever be part of our family. Most sincerely, Michael, Priscilla and Christopher Johnson

I would just like to say how sorry I am for your loss. I first met Dr. Gibbs when she started our NICU at Allentown General Hospital in PA. She would be proud to know how it has grown over the years. I credit her for that. She was the most dedicated physician I have ever met. There are a few of us old-timers left and we all have very fond memories of her. Please accept my condolences. Dr. Gibbs has cared for both of our sons since their births. Our eldest is now almost 15! Dr. Gibbs was a dedicated professional. We want to let her family and friends know how much she has meant to our family.
