Elina was a generous and kind friend, always having something enthusiastic to say about you. She had a good sense of humour and a positive attitude, and was one of the easiest people to get along with. We will miss her. Rest in peace, Dear Friend. Our condolences to Don, Maia, Gordon and the boys.

Maia, Gordon and Family, In the months after my father's passing I found real solace in a Maya Angelou poem. Paraphrasing -- "It is healthy and honourable to weep at the loss of someone we love. Healthy because grief must find release. Honourable because it is respectful to admit the importance of people who have loved and supported us...people whose footprints are unmatched in our lives." Thinking of you in this difficult time. Nancy

Elina went to journalism school with my mother at Carleton University. She and Don were longtime friends of my parents Marion & Harold Morrison and were like an aunt and uncle to my sisters and I. I have many fond childhood memories of spending time with Elina, Don, & Maia. I will miss Elina's quick wit, sharp mind and gentle presence. Don, Maia & Gord & family, I am thinking of all of you.

I knew Elina through my brother Gordon, who was her son-in-law. Elina and Don joined with us in many family events, and truly became an integral part of our family. Elina was one of those people whose kindness and generosity of shone through the moment you met her. Her absence of pretense was refreshing and I admired her for this. If she complimented you, you knew it was genuine. She was quick to offer help, and always seemed to know the just the right thing to say. Being in her presence always made the world seem a little brighter.
Elina will be greatly missed. I feel fortunate to have known her.
