Stuart C. Brandy
Stuart C. Brandy, the radio executive who was influential in furthering the careers of many well-known Toronto on-air personalities, died on Friday, March 25, 2011 in Toronto. He was 78. Stuart was born on October 5, 1932, in Windsor, Ontario. He began his career in radio at CFCO in Chatham, as a broadcast equipment operator. In 1953 Stuart moved to CFOR in Orillia, where he hosted the daily morning program "Brandy For Breakfast". Two years later Stuart married the woman of his dreams, Sheila McLaren. In 1956 they moved to Leamington where Stuart worked for CJSP radio. A move to CKEY in Toronto in 1962 began a 20-year relationship with Maclean-Hunter Broadcasting where Stuart held several executive positions. Stuart retired from broadcasting to the joys of cottage life in Muskoka in 1982. Stuart is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Sheila. He will be forever missed by his children David and his wife Danielle, Kim and her husband John, and Tracey and her husband Simon. Cherished grandfather to Eliza, Emma, Jarvis, Spencer, Madeline and Matthew. A Memorial Service will be held in Stuart's honour on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at 3 o'clock at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue).
