I knew your Dad many years ago...he helped me get my first job in the media as I had delivered peaches to him from my uncle Karel in Beamsville in the 80's...truly one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life...he and your mom always made me feel very welcome. I was very sad to hear of your loss. Hubert von Wuthenau

Dear Ed and Milan, I was saddened and sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. I know he had a long and full life but it is always emotionally difficult to lose a parent. Your Dad was a legend at Labatt. He was respected and admired by everyone in the Labatt family. His hard work and unbelievable sense of loyalty contributed significantly to our success. Although,he was passionate about Labatt,he was very proud of you and willingly spoke of the accomplishments of his family. I always appreciated his sense of humour and his willingness to share his experiences both personal and business from which I learned. I can still remember him telling me about his brave decicion to leave Czechoslovakia and how he did it. It was a story of determination and courage and fearlessly facing the unknown to build a better and safer life for his family. Your Dads'legacy will endure. Please accept my thoughts and prayers and God bless your Dad. best regards, Bill

I had the good fortune to work with Ed when I was working at Labatt in the 70's and 80's. Ed was admired, respected and liked by all of us. I recall Ed having phenomenal contacts. If you needed something and didn't know where to look, ask Ed and he would know. Those were great times at Labatt. We certainly had a lot of fun. Ed would say "people don't drink beer to have a bad time!". Good bye Ed. You will be missed. Paul Markle

Ed, Milan and families: My mother and I were deeply saddened to read of your father's death in today's paper. We remember him with such fondness. His photograph captured the warmth, decency and great love with which he lived his life. I remember all too clearly your father arriving down in Beamsville with a trunk full of Labatts beer which my father would exchange for a trunk full of peaches. He was a great friend to my father and a great friend to our entire extended family. He no doubt joins your dear mother in paradise for if there is such a place, the two of them certainly earned the right to reside with God. It was an honour and a privilege to know your father. It was a greater honour to be able to call him a friend-- and what a friend he was to so many. My mother joins me in sending our prayers, thoughts and love to you and your families. Nicolette and Betty Novak, Beamsville
