To all of Eileen's family. As you know, I am in Barbados and I just heard the very sad news. Eileen was a good friend to me --she was always there when I needed her with support and kind words and was such a good listener. She always gave wise counsel. I enjoyed many trips with her over the years. At work where I met her, she was a professional loved by her clients and so very knowledgable and helpful to everyone. I will miss her so much --I have indeed lost a wonderful friend. My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. I hope your happy memories will help you at this time of sorrow. I am thankful that Eileen was able to enjoy good quality of life almost until the last month and when I last spoke to her she still had peace because her family was there for her. With sincere sympathy Love Jane Gibson

Many years ago I met Eileen through my friend Betty McKeown. Eileen sometimes came to a movie with a few of the "girls" on a Sat night but only if it was a movie worth seeing. One of my warmest memories of Eileen is when she visited me at Sunnybrook Hospital in 2006. It was only about 2 days before I was being sent home and she appeared with a bagful of the most delicious scones -they were still warm so I sent my husband downstairs to get butter and jam and I will never forget how they tasted. Eileen was a woman of few words but her kind actions spoke volumes. If there was somewhere she wanted to go, or an event she wanted to see, or a place she wanted to visit - nothing stopped her. She will be remembered for her courage and determination. My thoughts are with her family.
