Obituary of Elizabeth White
WHITE, Elizabeth Philip (nee Graham)
Elizabeth ("Lib") White died on February 1, 2011 at 88 years of age. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Alfred (2004), Elizabeth struggled over the past few years with Alzheimer's. She will be remembered with love as a kind, giving and outgoing woman. Elizabeth was a wonderful mother to Christopher (Leslie) and David (Ann), a proud grandmother to Ben, Charlie, Emma, Graham and Andrew, and an enthusiastic participant in all facets of her active life. Whether it was through the Anglican Church Women's group at the Church of the Ascension, the Sunnybrook Hospital "Pink Ladies" (volunteers) or getting together with her many friends, Elizabeth enjoyed being with others and giving back to her community. Born in Toronto to parents William Philip and Olive Jessie, she considered herself a "Barrie girl" as this is where she spent most of her childhood with sister, Mary, before heading off to Victoria College at the University of Toronto. Prior to her marriage to Charlie, Elizabeth was a teacher at Northern Secondary School. She then became a homemaker in Don Mills where Elizabeth created a warm and caring environment for family and friends. Elizabeth was always concerned, first and foremost, with others and she will be missed by all whose lives she touched. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10. A service will take place in the chapel on Friday morning, February 11 at eleven o'clock. Reception to follow. If desired, donations may be made to the Sunnybrook & Women's Foundation, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto M4N 3M5 or the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Avenue West, Suite #1600, Toronto M4R 1K8.
