'Tis sad when you see friends from the past leave us. I knew Pat and her sister Annette from way back in CYO dance days at St. Thomas Acquinas up on Eglinton Ave. I can still remember her laughter,

Dear John: saw in the Globe that your mum had died. I did not know her, but one measure of a person is the character of her children, and you're a good 'un. So kudos to your mum. Please accept the condolences of this Chetwynd compadre to you, and all your family. Barnaby S.

You may not know me, but Patricia and Louise Calverley (nee Le Guen), my mother trained together with the Nuns at St. Josephs' Hospital, Toronto.
Mom passed away three years ago, one month before her 90th birthday and drove her car up to a week before she was admitted to York Central Hospital. She was a 'spitfire' and very active.
So many funny stories were shared from her amongst my siblings about Patricia Haviland and Pat Duggan and the Nuns. How many times did they sneak out of residence to meet their dates near the midway at the lakefront; dancing at the Palais Royale, and the many tricks they would play amongst themselves. The stories were endless.
I am certain this is the most heartbreaking time of your lives as it was for us all (my siblings) when our dearest mom passed away.
My heartfelt sympathy goes to you all at this sad time and I am sure you all have great and wonderful memories of your mom.

John, Sally, Nancy, David, Rosanna, Keegan, Alicia, Nicholas, Michael, Madeleine, Patrick and Lily - our thoughts are with you all. Patricia's warmth, curiousity, humour, grace, beauty, serenity, her sense of fun and interest in others and the world around her were always so evident. Patricia's love for all you was always so obvious in her sparkling eyes and her wonderful smile. We are all in shock at her death. You are all much in our hearts at this sad time. Love Marcus, Kate, Eric, Maddie and Sarah

A mom is always special and holds a sacred place in our hearts. Either as a parent or as a friend they continue to be our most trusted and closest companion through our lives. David, even as your mom moves on to the spiritual world, I believe that she will continue to watch over her babies. I pray to God that he bless your family with strength and courage through your loss.
