Bruce and Family, I was saddened to read of Tom's death and sorry not to have been able to attend his memorial service yesterday. You may remember my name as one from Tom's past (Miss Mouldy to be exact) and I think that you Bruce, were on the great archeological dig in Spain as interpreter through the University of Guelph so many years ago. My memories of Tom are many and full of laughter and I deeply regret losing touch with him over the years. I recall a 'jungle' suede coat, Hare Krishna robes, beads, tamborines, the music of Motown, countless glasses of wine and many shared secrets. I was speaking of Tom with my parents the other day, and my mother remembers Tom coming to our cottage for a few days of what he thought was going to be R and R (I think I was working out west that summer - so great that he felt comfortable enough to visit them when I wasn't there.) Naturally my father tried to put him to work, I think it was cutting down trees, so you can just imagine.... At the end of a 'long' day, my mother pulled a great roast of beef out of then oven cooked especially for Tom, only for him to announce that he had become vegetarian... I am sure the stories are legion, and I wanted you to know that I remember your brother with fondness and love. My deepest condolences on your loss. Suzanne

Tom was a breath of fresh air every single day. I knew Tom at the ARB, and he had an infectious laugh that you just couldn't help but join in. I didn't know him that well, but when it comes to people you meet in your travels in this crazy world, he was one in a million. He is gone too soon and I was sadden to get the news of his passing. All our thoughts and prayers are with his family and close friends during this difficult time. He will be missed by all. Tom thank you for being in our lifes and just being you. We love you. Rest in Peace my friend

Bruce and Beth It has been many years since I have seen Tom but I do have many fond memories of spending time with Tom and your family usually after church or sometimes when he and I would sneak off to a Sunday movie. We even played hookey from Sunday School which was rather courageous (or stupid) as your Uncle Paul was leading it and my mom was playing the piano. I don't know how many times we saw "The Parent Trap" with Hayley Mills but I suspect at least 10. Tom really loved that movie and Hayley Mills! I was telling my wife about how Tom played the role of the Lion in the Wizard of OZ at Deer Park and really nailed it. Your family was a part of my life up to my mid to late teens and Tom was a wonderful friend. My thoughts are with you at this time.

My condolences to the family and especially to you Bruce. Haven't seen you in many years, since I visited the wonderful Deacon farm with your cousin Mary. Am pretty sure Tom was part of the watermelon 'speed and distance' seed spitting contest that long ago summer. Tom is gone far too soon; my sincere sympathies. All best, Kim McArthur (Toronto).

My sincere condolences on Tom's passing. For the many years we knew each other at the A.R.B., Tom's face always had a pleasant smile for me, plus a friendly greeting. I will miss his presence from amongst us. It is a noticable and regrettable gap in accustomed living. God rest his soul. Edith Justin

I worked with Tom for about ten years. One of the many things I will miss is hearing his laugh. He was always making us laugh even on the days we didn't feel like it. For many years we sat side by side & shared lots of laughs & even some tears. All the pain & suffering is gone now & that makes me happy. The thought I will never be able to talk to him again makes me very sad. I love you Tom. If you have a minute could you go say hi to my mom for me please. My thoughts & prayers are with all his family & friends. Rest in Peace Tom. You are now an angel watching over us.

Very sad to hear this news. My thoughts & prayers are with the family, friends, animals and Tom. I remember Tom from my early days with the ARB. What a great sense of humour!! Always there with a smile or a hug and loved to have a laugh. Tom reminded me not to take myself to seriously and work would always be there on Monday. I remember fondly our discussions on favourite movie stars and music - the older the better! I will miss his smile the most.
