Obituary of Lindsay Empringham

EMPRINGHAM, Lindsay Edna Lindsay died peacefully at home in Toronto surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at the age of 56, after a 26-year courageous battle with cancer. Lindsay is survived by sisters Charlotte Empringham, Mary Ellen (Hopgood) McCrea, and brother Charles Empringham. Lindsay, beloved aunt to Jane, Geoffrey, Sarah Hopgood, James Empringham and sister-in-law to Christopher Hopgood and Frank McCrea. Lindsay will be fondly remembered by the staff and students of Charles G. Fraser Public School and Rosedale Presbyterian Church Choir, Toronto She will also be missed by her many friends in the Alumnae Theatre Toronto and The Beaverton Town Hall Players, Beaverton, Lake Simcoe. The family wishes to thank her personal physician Dr. Laurie White, and Dr. Alan Seidenfeld and Dr. Andrea Eisen of Sunnybrook Hospital for their tireless dedication to her care. A special thanks to Dr. Jim Swan, physician and family friend, for his care and guidance to Lindsay and her family. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21st. A service of celebration of Lindsay's life will be held at ROSEDALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 129 Mount Pleasant Road, on Saturday, January 22nd at 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held in Beaverton during the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lindsay's name to The Beaverton Town Hall Players, The Alumnae Theatre or Perram House.
