I was thinking about Joan recently as we had lost touch over the years. It was over something we had discussed about 30 years ago. I wanted to tell her she was right and I should have listened to her then. Now it's too late. I'm really sorry.

My deepest condolences to Joan's family and friends. I was just starting my career when I met Joan at OLC. She took me under her wing and was a wonderful mentor and friend. Her positive outlook and strong work ethic has made a lasting impression on me and the choices I have made. She was an incredible woman who encouraged people to show their best qualities in a very natural way. My thoughts and prayers are with all who loved her dearly. Sherri Rosso

I had the pleasure of dating Joan back in our university days at Western in the late 70"s. We met up in Scotland that summer and had a ball. I am so saddened to hear of her passing at such a young age. Joan meant so much to those who's lives she enriched and will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her great friend Anne Odette Kaye and Joan's brother Keith.

Joan was the tireless energizer bunny, so full of hope and optimism, and more importantly a wonderful confidante and friend. I will always be grateful to the Junior League for bringing the two of us from different cities together. Through our travels at international conferences, to our Rebuild treks to New Orleans, your memory and wonderful spirit will always live on (p.s. remember our lipsticks! ;-). And know you will be missed!

Remembering Joan's life with gratitude and thanksgiving. Joan was such a wonderful woman, full of grace and good humour. I will always treasure the genuine interest and care she showed us as students in the Magna award program. Blessings as you gather in the chapel at Bishop Strachan School this week to celebrate Joan's life.

Martha, no we didn't get her name wrong. Joan was better known as Martha Stewart to those of us who camped with her. While on our Glen Bernard Alumni trips Joan would not only help prepare the wonderful campfire meals but present them in a fashion which lead us to believe there was a small kitchen somewhere out in the woods that we didn't know about. Everything was arranged perfectly AND tasted delicious too. In the years which Joan wasn't with us we often said, "What would Martha have done?" or " This isn't the way Martha would have made it." We'll never forget you Martha a.k.a. Joan
