What can I say, Gran was always the greatest of story tellers reminding us all of what her life was like in the war and how she stole Papa from another women. I remember as a child spending much time with her and Papa at the cottage on Snake Island feeding the raccoons out the back door and being the waitress for cocktail hour. Groovy Granny, as I called her used to take me to visit with the locals all dressed up in her Hobo costume. Gran was quick to remind me of my manners before entering anywhere, "now remember Brittney, how would you behave if you were to sit before the Queen" she would say. Gran was ever so sweet with my children as would play the "borrr a hole" game... if you new gran, you know what that game is. My daughter Nyah this morning expressed that she wanted to come and say goodbye to great, I suggested I would pass on a message which is as follows, "I will miss you Great!" with one single tear.
We will all miss you Gran, your stories, your smile, and even your sneakiness to get another Scotch!
Love you with all my heart xoxoxox
Your grand daughter Brittney

I've known the Dubruiel family since childhood, starting in Montreal, but more recently as next door neighbors of Jean Louis & Betty at Snake Island....and what memories I have of those many years, feeling as though I were a member of Betty's family.
My mother speaks of Betty during each of our daily phone conversations from her hospital bed. She deeply regrets not being able to attend the service tomorrow, as do I.
To Michele, Denise and John, I'm sure you know how well liked your mother was. My thoughts are with you. Have as nice a "party" tomorrow as possible, and just remember Betty's whooping laugh.

Dear Michelle, Denise and John, Can't believe 'Auntie Betty' is no longer with us. Though she wasn't my 'real' aunt, she was a a big part of my childhood as my mom's best friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours at this difficult time. I have been reflecting back on cherished memories both in Willowdale and of course Snache Island. With sympathy, Joan, Terry, Lindsay and Chris.

Gran worked as a nurse in the General hospital that was attached by underground tunnel to the Children's hospital that I stayed at quite often. She always used her break time to come and see me and it made my stays so much easier. Without fail Gran would sneak me in treats that I wasn't supposed to have. I was always grateful for this and I thought she was a great friend for breaking the rules for me. As I got older when no one was looking I would break into the liquor cabinet and pour her a scotch to show her I could return the favour.
Love you Gran.

Dear Michele, Denise and "little" Johnny, I so saddened to hear of the passing of your mom. I have many fond and funny memories of her from my teen years when Michele and me would get up to hijinks. Betty is the last of the moms of my school chums and and she will be missed. You were blessed to have her for such a long time and she will be forever in your loving thoughts. You are in my heart, thoughts and prayers, Bonnie Dew
