Obituary of William Callander

W. Keith Callander Died peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto on Thursday, December 9, 2010, in his 83rd year. Keith is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Lois, his loving daughter Barbara Callander, son-in-law Dave Bridges, and his sisters Helen (Bill) Hans, Leila (Robert) Olson and Muriel Baxter. This quiet, warm, unassuming father and friend will be greatly missed for his support and always sound advice. Keith never lost his sense of humour as he accepted the many challenges of living with Parkinson's disease. Keith was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, March 17, 1928. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, he joined Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co. in Flin Flon, Manitoba. His distinguished career culminated with his role as Senior Vice President Operations. Keith was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International and in 1988 was named Honorary Citizen in the City of Flin Flon, Manitoba for his outstanding contribution to the community. Keith enjoyed sailing at his cottage on Lake Athapapuskow, Bakers Narrows, Manitoba. As a member of the Donalda Club in Toronto he was an avid curler and golfer.
