Allison White posted a condolence

Great Aunty Doris was someone I always admired. Like me, she was unmarried and always seemed to be on the go. These days I live in China, and she was always thrilled to hear from me, in the infrequent times I was able to actually catch her on the phone, or even more rarely, find an afternoon when she and I were both free and in the same city at the same time. On the White side of the family girls were pretty few and far between, as they skipped a generation, and as my grandfather's younger sister, she was the next youngest girl on that side of the family. I always loved visiting the house on Davisville, as it was built by hand by someone in my family, and that inside it Doris and for many years her mother, my great grandmother, lived together. No matter when I'd stop by, there would always be tea and cookies, and sherry. Doris always seemed far younger than her years, and spry. She loved hearing tales of the far off places I've visited and when I was younger she always managed to send a card to whatever far flung place I was in that year to remember me at Christmas. Even though she didn't stay in contact with family all that often, nor I with her this past year, she'll be missed, as I thought of her often.

Elizabeth Matthews (nee) Fawcett, and my brothers Robert, Tom, and David Fawcett send our condolences. Our parents Allen and Helen Fawcett attended St. Cuthbert's Church, where I attended Sunday School. This is where we met Doris and her mother Susan. Doris babysat us often, in fact she was babysitting us the day of Hurricane Hazel. I and my brothers remember going to their home on Davisville Ave. for English tea when we were young.
