Obituary of Ross Paterson

PATERSON, Ross MacKay Peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, at age 94 on July 15. He was born in Toronto May 1 , 1918 to Hugh Denyes Paterson and Emma MacKay, and leaves his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy, son Hugh (Hilda) of Ottawa, and grandchildren Brian (Alana) of Campbell River, B.C. and Jennifer |(Michael), of Ottawa. Two days after Ross passed, Jennifer gave birth to son Cameron MacKay. Ross was a long-time employee of Manufacturers Life, joining the company in 1939 and retiring as commercial mortgage manager for Toronto. He served in the RCAF from 1939-1945. He was a life-long member of Deer Park United Church and served for many years on its board of managers. A gentleman and a gentle man to the end, he loved to tell stories and jokes, especially to his beloved grandchildren. He needed no encouragin' to break out in song with his version of Harry Lauder's When I Meets McKay. He viewed life with a twinkle in his eye, and always saw the humour in any situation, however mundane. He was an avid and accomplished golfer, and loved to garden.
