Catholic Service We. September 15th at 1pm By Fr.Yves Fournier
THANKSGIVING SERVICE FOR MRS. WINNIFRED KILCLINE
1. Music Prelude Amazing Grace (Nana Mouskouri)
2. Greetings and Call to Worship:
Good Afternoon!
I am Father Yves Fournier, a retired Military Chaplain. On behalf of Mrs. Winifred Mary KILCLINE's family, I welcome you to this service of thanksgiving for her life and thank you for being here.
We here to pay our last respects to Winifred, to offer her family the support of our friendship and solidarity in their grief and to entrust her to God's eternal love through a religious service in the Catholic tradition
Together, we stand in for all those whom she has loved, cared for or interacted with during her life. We represent those who perhaps would have liked to be here and have been unable to join us. We know that they are with us in spirit.
We also remember all those who were dear to her and who have gone before her, especially her late husband
Let us begin our service in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! R/Amen
May the God of love, who is our comfort and strength, be with you always!
R/ And also with you.
At the beginning of her life, Winifred became a member of the family of believers though Baptism in water and the Spirit. Now that the course of her mortal life is completed, we sprinkle her body with holy water in remembrance of that Baptism.
As Christ went through the deep waters of death for us, so may he bring our sister to the fullness of eternal life. Amen
3. Penitential Rite
Son of God who came to destroy sin and death Lord, have mercy. R/ Lord, have mercy
Word of God who delivered us from the fear of death: Christ, have mercy. R / Christ, have mercy.
Crucified Lord, forsaken in death, raised in glory: Lord, have mercy. R/ Lord, have mercy
May God our Father forgive us our sins and bring us to the eternal joy of his kingdom where dust and ashes have no dominion.
Amen.
4. Opening Prayer
The Lord be with you R: And also with you Let us pray.
Gracious God,
We thank you that you have made each of us in your own image, and given us gifts and talents with which to serve you.
We thank you for Winifred, the years we shared with her, the good we saw in her, the love we received from her.
Our sister no longer has to suffer pain or fear, her limitations are ended, weakness is overcome, her earthly life transformed into life eternal.
Lord, we turn our hearts to you. Listen to our prayers and lead her to your kingdom of light and peace and count her among the saints in glory. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
R/ Amen.
5. First Scripture Reading. A Reading from the Book of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 by Lora Grande
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die,
A time to plant and a time to uproot,
A time to tear down and a time to build,
A time to weep and a time to laugh,
A time to mourn and a time to dance,
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.
A time to search and a time to give up,
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend,
A time to be silent and a time to speak.
I thought in my heart, "God will bring to judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time for every deed." This is the Word of the Lord. R/Thanks be to God
6. Psalm 23 by Lora Grande
Response: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me, to revive my drooping spirit.
Response: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
He guides me along the right path; He is true to his name.
If I should walk in the valley of darkness no evil would I fear.
You are there with your crook and your staff; with these you give me comfort.
Response: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes.
My head you have anointed with oil; my cup is overflowing.
Response: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life.
In the Lord's own house shall I dwell for ever and ever.
Response: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
7. Gospel: Matthew 25: 31-40
The Lord be with you! R/ And also with you A reading from the Gospel according to Matthew:
Jesus told his disciples: "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne. Before him will be gathered all nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, to inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. This is the Gospel of the Lord! Praise to you, Lord Jesus

1. God of grace and glory, we thank you our sister and the years that we were given to share with her. We thank you Lord. R/ We thank you, O Lord
2. God of grace and glory, we thank you for the love and friendship she offered and received while she was with us. We thank you Lord. R/ We thank you, O Lord
3. God of grace and glory, we thank you for all the good that she has done in her life. We thank you Lord. R/ We thank you, O Lord
4. God of grace and glory, we thank you for all she brought to those close to her and for having made this world a better place. We thank you Lord. R/ We thank you, O Lord
Let us pray.
Creator God, we pray that all that was good in Winifred's life will be preserved, and be of benefit to the world. We pray that all that was important to her will be respected by those who follow and that everything in which she was great will continue to mean much to us.
This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
12. The Lord's Prayers
Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Deliver us, Lord, from every evil and grant us peace in our day.
In your mercy keep us safe from sin and protect us from all anxiety
As we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. AMEN
13. Committal
The Lord be with you! R/And also with you!
Let us entrust our sister to her Creator.
God our creator and redeemer, by your power Christ conquered death and entered into glory.
Confident of his victory and claiming his promises, we entrust Winifred to your merciful keeping in the name of Jesus our Lord, who died and is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
We commend into your hands our sister who was loved and respected.
Receive her now in your infinite tenderness, and give her everlasting peace.
For this we pray through Christ Our Lord! Amen
14. Final Blessing
Rest eternal grant to her, O Lord! And let light perpetual shine upon her
May her soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
May Christ the good shepherd enfold you with love, fill you with peace, and lead you in hope, to the end of your days.
May the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among us and remain with us always. Amen!

I am Enzo, husband of Mary, son-in-law of Ms Kilcline whom I known for the past 10 years. Those were difficult and trying years for Ms Kilcline because I seen her fight through many health issues during that time and other complications that comes by running the household as a single elderly parent and caring for your children.
Many of you would agree that Ms Kilcline was a very kind, caring and compassionate person, who would unselfishly help others. If this meant lending her painful right arm to help she would do so. My father said; "Winnie could never hurt anyone even a fly and if Winnie is not welcome in Heaven, there is something terribly wrong with that!"
Her earlier life as a child was trying times for her too. It was not common back in the 1930's to be born without a father figure and society considered it very taboo. You can only imagine how much she endured being chastised, and a bit lost of her own identity being an only child. Eventually, she did have a wonderful stepfather to fulfill the void of a father figure and she felt more complete as a family. She still felt unacceptable going to a catholic school because she had a hard time remembering her prayers. It didn't help that the nuns were strict with her and that's when she started to stutter at a young age. However, when she transferred to another school, she felt accepted and her stuttering slowly went away.
She told me her most memorable moment was hearing her mom tell her how proud she was when she began her life as a young responsible adult. Her mom was proud she never caused any trouble; she was a fine daughter who never drank, smoke or did anything that would be considered sinful or in poor taste. She was determined to finish her schooling at night and held a Supervisory role managing a staff of bookkeepers in the 1950s at Workman's Compensation Board. She saved her money those years to buy a house and her intention was to get married and start a family.
When she reflects on her marriage to Bill her husband she says, "When I lost Bill I lost everything". Just goes to show how much she loved her husband and family life. Her child bearing years had complications, and the doctors were concern about her health and asked her to limit to two children. However, she wanted to be surround herself with a bigger family and had four.
Winnie showed others her enduring respect, unconditional love, compassion and acceptance of everyone including their faults. She was indeed an image of God. We hope Winnifred Kilcline, you're after life journey will be more enduring and you will come to find the acceptance and respect you deserve. God Bless you Winnifred Kilcline!

Good afternoon and welcome all!
I am Mary Kilcline eldest daughter of Mrs. Winnifred (Winnie) Kilcline.
Mrs. Winnifred Kilcline once a child, a student a worker, a wife, a mother a grandmother and a friend to all was born on Tuesday June 26, 2010 and passed into eternal life on Sat. Sept. 11, 2010. Our mom was a compassionate, loving and giving individual and yes she would literally give the shirt off her back.
Upon growing up in the city of Toronto she completed school and worked part-time at the Toronto General Hospital serving meals to patients. She soon decided to go back to school and completed courses in business machines and bookkeeping. She then landed her job at the workers compensation board (WCB) in Nov. 1956 and worked there til I was born in 1965.
She loved to go the church dances where she loved to dance; she loved to roller skate at mutual arena. My mom was a great swimmer and taught us how to swim and do the back stroke. She met my dad when she was 17 at St.Peters Catholic church dance (on St. Patrick's Day) and didn't marry him til she was 27.
They got married in Ireland on Dec. 27 1961.
4 yrs later came the kids.
I was born in 1965, William Jr. 1968, Noreen 1969, Patrick 1971.
In 1971 my parents had to help my mother's mom who had developed bowel cancer. She passed away on Dec. 18, 1971. At age 67.My parents helped my step-grandfather until he passed in 1977. Age 76.
We attended Holy Rosary Church for many years and our brothers were Alter Boys.
As a family we would go camping with our camper usually to Rochester to visit our cousins. We had a lot of fun summers there.
The love my mom had for animals illuminated through her. She had a special bond with the family dogs Skippy mix black Labrador, Margie black German short haired pointer, Ginger short haired mini dashound, Tera long haired standard dashhound and for the past 6 yrs. Danny boy long haired dashound Where is Danny Boy bring him up.
Let's hear it for Danny Boy. We love you and will take care of you…
Our mom had a special love for pets, people and research. She kindly donated to the Humane Society, Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation, Covenant House and Good Sheppard every year. She had a special bond with her neighbour Joan and they looked out for each other. Joan passed away on May 12 of this year. Joan would call her to look out the window when the Scottish elderly gentleman would be walking across the road in his kilt. They would laugh especially on a windy day…..
Our mom loved to go to the CNE every year, and play bingo and other games on the midway. She won many prizes that filled the car.
She even saw Mickey Rooney on stage 2 years ago.
And she met Dave Devall retired Weatherman for CTV news at a fundraiser at Yuk Yuks in the mid. 1990's
And believe it or not our Mom had another man …
Well he didn't talk and didn't walk.
Our mom and her neighbour Joan shared him…
A male statue resembling John Wayne (bought at an auction with her loving friend Denise). Our mom and Joan would laugh. They were both hoping the live one would show up one day.
Tasha a dear neighbour for over 60 yrs., would visit her regularly, mom loved the company and the roast beef.
Our mom often said, 'the willing horse gets the load."
Her favourite colours were green and pink
Her favourite store was Honest Eds.
Her favourite man our father, her late husband.
May our mother and father rest in peace together eternally now and forever
Our parents were married for 35 yrs. Our dad passed away 14 yrs; ago on Sept 22, 1996.
He was 67 yrs. Old.
Throughout all the trials and tribulations our mom remained strong as compared to a Duracell battery and I am talking the RECHARGEABLE ones.
With all the challenges of raising 4 beautiful children, she remained strong and grounded with her unconditional LOVE.
In 1979 our mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a right mastectomy this was a very challenging time but she was cancer free for over 25 yrs.
On two different occasions in the late 1980's and early 1990's while riding her bicycle (shopping and paying bills) a car door opened on her, she fell needing a couple of stitches and on she went as if nothing happened.
In 1997 she was in hospital for kidney stones the same time Princess Diana died in a car accident.
In 2001 she had an operation for urinary incontinence and had a urostomy. Every year in September we went to Starkman's surgical supply open house to see all their new and advanced products, and enjoyed their barbeque and refreshments.
2004-05 she was experiencing kidney failure and had to begin 2006 Dialysis 3x a week at Sunnybrook. There were a few attempts to put in a Fistula in her arm for Dialysis but the original line in her neck was successful.
In 2007 she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had a left mastectomy.
And was cancer free after 1 year.
Dialysis is very difficult on the body but our mom did well for almost 5 yrs.
The friends she developed there were very inspiring to her and vice versa.
In a way it was like a social gathering.
In 2009 we went to Lake Dorset Dialysis cottages for 1 week and we went to Huntsville.
In the past few months her weight and appetite started to decline.
We got a wheelchair for her in mid March and she at first found it difficult to adjust but after a few trips shopping the basket was full.
Our last trip was to Rochester to visit family August 7, 2010 we had a great time and even shopped at duty free in the wee hrs. of the morning.
My mom knew she needed to go into hospital to get better on mon. On August 16th, we went to dialysis and she stayed in hospital because of her difficulty eating and keeping food down. During Dialysis on Mon. Sept 6th, 2010 her blood pressure went down she had to go to critical care.
She had a cat scan and had emergency operation on Tues. Sept 7th, 2010 for a blocked intestine and infection.
She held on dearly and did not need any pain medication or sedatives.
She squeezed our hands and we communicated to her with our kind words for the 6 days she was in critical care.
On Sat. Sept 11th after 1pm her blood pressure started to decline, she was given the max. Amt. of medication for her blood pressure at this point.
Winnifred our angel entered into Eternal Life at 1:30pm.
All was a very peaceful.
Let us now play the song "We are the World", please join in singing, or move your feet if you wish.
Life is eternal……in memory of our angel……
There comes a time when we hear a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
and its time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all
We cant go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of Gods great big family
And the truth, you know,
Love is all we need
[Chorus:]
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So lets start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
its true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
Verse
Send them your heart so they know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stones to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand
[Chorus:]
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So lets start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
its true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
Verse
When you're down and out, and there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Oh no,no,no,no Let us realize that a change can only come
When we stand together as one
[Chorus:]
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So lets start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving out own lives
its true we'll make a brighter day
Just you and me.
Now the poem
The Broken Chain by Unknown Author
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories; your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
The chain is now broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
For my brother William Jr. who is not with us today, we thank him for giving her he a gold cross necklace which will be with her forever.
Our final blessing is a short verse for all to live by:
"Life is not the amount of breaths you take."
"It's the moments that take your breath away"
God bless.
And we thank all
Mary Kilcline and Family

Although my contact with your Mother was only on a few occassions, she burnt into my memory, that, she has a giving, loving spirit. I remember at Artina's baby shower at Norren and Lionel's apartment your Mother was wearing what I imangined was a fairy tale, queens, fancy ball dress. I pictured this because I noticed your Mum turning around in a circle in one spot which made her dresss flare out and your Mum had a smile on her that had the energy of the sun. Your Mum owns that moment in my life and I am eternally thakful for. In the spirit of that moment I wish all affected Understanding, strength to overcome, and time to heal
