My sincerest condolences to the entire Speller family on the passing of Phil Speller. I have the fondest memories of him & Else while growing up in Chappaqua, New York as a close friend of Roger's. Phil always greeted you with the biggest & warmest smile and would always show genuine interest in how I was doing? He loved spending time with us playing ball, joking around and talking about his love of curling. Else was also an amazing Mom to Roger and treated me like a second son whenever I would come over to their home on Shingle House Rd. I have been trying to locate Roger recently and have been unable. If you have his mobile # please send it to me or have him give me a call. I would love to hear from him. In the meantime, I hope that you and your entire family are all doing well.
Warmly,
Ken Nadel

We always looked forward your arrival home from work. Mom would make sure we and our clothes were clean and our hair combed. We'd wait on the front stoop or, if we were especially lucky, get permission to meet Dad at the end of the street as he got off the bus. He'd kiss us girls and then always kiss Mom as he walked in the door. We crowded around the dinner table anxious to share our days' experiences with both our parents, but mostly with Dad. He often bathed us - all three girls, ages three to six, in the tub together to save water. Then, dried, in pjs and tucked into bed, we ask for Dad's stories of Chauncey and the Blue Racer, which he eventually elaborated on for Roger.
Much love, Dad, Susan

I apologise for the bad spelling, esp. with a name like mine, it was a typo.

This is just to thank you for all your condolences and the many cards and letters I have had remembering Philip's passion for living. It is heartening to be reminded of Philip's vitality and joie de vivre especially after being present through all the 'hills and valleys'. Our family had such a good visit with him two nights before he died, he enjoyed it so much it was almost a 'party'. He knew he was well-loved and we knew it was well reciprocated. May he rest in peace.

Our memories of Uncle Phil bring smiles. He had such an impact on anyone who spent time with him with his marvelous energy and enthusiasm. Life was a rambunctious competition in the market, on the tennis court, or with the family playing games. Our thoughts are all of you who held Phil so dear. Love Clare & Lillian

Dear Mrs. Speller (Else) and all your family. I was sorry to read of Mr. Speller's passing. I have many fond memories of the times the Speller family would visit the MacGibbons at the cottage, bonfires at the McLeod's point etc, etc. We sure had a lot of discussions and laughs too of course. I will be at the funeral tomorrow, hopefully we can have a hug. Susan (Stone-Graham)-Ruth Emmerson's daughter

To Karen; I just read of the passing of your father. I met him in 1973 after driving you home in a rainstorm..You worked at the four Season Jarvis, and i was a loyal customer and hopefully a friend. I a m sorry to see you lose your Dad, he seemed to be a man with a purpose, and a vision of what was what. I notice that your husband's name is Bob, is that the California Bob? Well, I am relatively well, retired with Helen in the country. I hope life is treating you well, and that this moment of sadness will soon be replaced with the happy memories of a father who influenced you, in the best ways possible. Chin up, HE was a good ma who led an interesting life. Barrie Richardson 2nd stool from the end, next to the late Ralph Wilson
