Obituary of Helen Paterson
HELEN JANE PATERSON
Peacefully passed away on the evening of Monday, July 26, 2010, at her home in Toronto. She is survived by her loving husband George Paterson; sons Gordon, Stephen and Robert; daughter-in-law Christine; granddaughter Kate; and brothers George and Alan Brand. Born in 1932, Helen attended St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Toronto. She later worked at the Crown Life Insurance Company, where she met her loving husband George. Helen loved to socialize and be with friends, and enjoyed traveling and exploring new cultures. Her sense for adventure took the family around the world, living in Paris in the 60's and Hong Kong in the 80's. She was also actively involved in charitable work, especially with the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Toronto. To all that knew Helen, she was a caring and supportive person who always lent a hand to help others. She took pride in raising her family and was most happy when she was surrounded by her boys. The family would like to say a special thanks to the people at the Sunnybrook Hospital Family Practice, and the Princess Margaret - Pencer Brain Tumor Centre, as well as Audrey Babb and Helen Jameson, who are two outstanding friends and were there in the tough times to provide such great support to Helen. Last, but not least, to Helen's personal caregiver, Helen Xu, who has become part of the Paterson family and always was there for us. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday. A funeral mass will be held in OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP CHURCH, 78 Clifton Road on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret - Pencer Brain Tumor Centre, 610 University Avenue, Toronto M5G 2M9 would be appreciated.
