Obituary of Laurence Wight

Laurence Andrew Wight (1933 - 2010) Laurence Andrew Wight, beloved husband, mentor and best friend for 48 years of Caroline (nee Lawson), following a long, brave struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. Larry was born in St. Catharines, the only son of the late Traiton and Florence Wight. Following an exciting and successful career with Rank Xerox in England, Larry returned to Canada with his beloved Caroline; and became an industrial Real Estate Broker with R.G. Way. Larry and Caroline then partnered to become a stellar residential real estate team with Johnston & Daniel Ltd. (now Johnston & Daniel - A Division of Royal LePage). Larry's wit and charm combined to make him beloved by many. He will long be remembered for his warmth, generosity of spirit, infectious laugh and sparkling sense of humour. He made life-long friends not only in Toronto, but also on Lake Joseph in Muskoka (where he and Caroline often hosted delightful parties for their friends); and down south in the Abacos on the quaint Bahamian out island of Hope Town on Elbow Cay. Larry will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched in his special way. A special thank you to Amory Menchaves (Mr. Lucky), his constant companion and caregiver for the past four years. His dedicated and invaluable assistance made possible a comfortable life for Larry. Thanks also to Dr. Patel and the caring nursing team at Mount Sinai for kindness and warmth. A private family cremation has been held. Friends are welcome to celebrate Larry's life at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6th.
