Obituary of Allan Beattie
BEATTIE, Allan Leslie, C.M., O.Ont., Q.C., LL.B. -
A proud son of Copper Cliff, Ontario, Allan's life ended at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, Sunday, May 23, 2010 at age 84. His last days were filled with family love; wife Sally (nee Litch), his four daughters Elizabeth (James Greenshields), Mary Plath, Barbara (Frank Aiello) and Leslie (David Prescott) and grandchildren Mark and Heather Plath, Daniel, Victoria and William Aiello, Ian and Eric Prescott. Allan's step-daughters graced his family: Lisa Samstag, Laura Bincik, Amelia Davidson and Anna Wallner and their families. Allan was predeceased by his parents Robert Leslie Beattie and Amelia Edna Allen, his brothers Robert and Donald and by Beth (nee Tremayne) his first wife. A Member of both the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario, Allan Beattie was a pillar of his community. He applied his extensive legal and business experience to a vast array of philanthropic and volunteer endeavors. Allan is held in high esteem for his deep commitment to his Church and the many educational, cultural and healthcare organizations he supported, most notably Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Memorial Service to take place at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church on Monday, May 31st at 11:00 a.m., the Reverends Dr. Andrew Stirling and Dr. Stanford Lucyk officiating.
