To the family of Father Tom, I first met Father Tom when I was a teacher at St. Aloysius School and Father Tom was an assistant at St. Brigid's. He would come into my Junior Kindergarten class, say "Hi" to the little ones, and then sit down at the piano. He would play a few tunes---about 15 minutes---just long enough to get these little 3 & 4 year olds climbing the walls, and then he would stop playing, wave a little good-bye, and leave me in total WHATEVER!!! I was left to try and regain some type of order or control in the classroom!!! IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. The kids really enjoyed his visits and that was what it was all about. Father Tom, you will be missed but surely not forgotten. May I extend to all of your family and friends, my sincerest condolences. I am sure that right now, you are seeing God face to face. Say "Hi" to Him for me!!! Sincerely, Carol Fyfle St. Aloysius 1972-82

Please accept my deepest condolences on the too soon passing of such a good man and great priest. I was a small child attending St. Paul's Basilica in downtown Toronto for weekly Sunday mass ( and the inevitable teas, socials and other activities promoted by Father Day) when I had the immense good fortune to meet Father Day. He was a gift to his parishioners many of whom were immigarnt Irish like my father with a deep faith and a longing for home. Father Day provided a space and a place for all the people of the neighbourhood and well beyond its borders as well, to come to worship, to find peace and solace, to meet new friends, to get sage counsel and to feel welcomed with open arms. The times in the 60's and 70's had their challenges for the Roman Catholic Church and society and Father Day was a true beacon of stability, caring, compassion and a deep abiding and living Faith.....He was a treasure ! He will be missed.

Our family knew Father Tom Day when he was Associate Pastor at St Joseph's parish. He worked closely with my father Ted Lauzon to support the CYO hockey team. He visited our house and made a big impression on us as children. He was very friendly and I know that my Dad had a tremendous amount of respect for him. After he left St Joseph's parish, my parents kept track of his doings for years afterwards and his name came up frequently. We are proud that we knew this good and kind man.

Dear Members of Father Tom's Family, Father Tom was such an inspirational figure in the lives of others. During his tenure as pastor at St. Boniface Church, he was inspirational in joining schools and parish together. I had the pleasure of working with him in all areas of sacramental preparation. Also, he celebrated Mass in my home as a teacher at St. Nicholas School for a Day of Reflection and personnal Masses. Due to the passing of one of my Aunts, as both of them have completed their mission of life, I am unable to attend the Mass. I will keep Father Day and you in my prayers. With love, Elaine Aprile
