Obituary of ISABEL BROWN
On Friday, April 23rd, 2010, after a long illness, surrounded by her husband Stephen C.R. Brown, her children, Christopher, Adrianne (Mel Logan), Gillian (Jonathan Kirkwood), and her granddaughter Esme Isabel Kirkwood. Daughter of the late Verna Parker (née Grantham) and James Chilton Boyd, she was born in 1932 in Carlyle, Saskatchewan. Isabel was raised and educated in Brandon and Winnipeg, Manitoba; Toronto, Ontario; London, England; and Paris, France. She had a long and rewarding career as an economist with the Ontario Hospital Services Commission, then as Head of the Bureau of Economic Research at the Canadian Dental Association, and, finally, as a senior policy analyst with the Ontario Ministry of Health. Her personal life, at both Toronto and country residences, centred around her husband, children and a succession of dogs. Isabel's passions were playing and listening to classical music, ballet (both watching performances and taking classes), France and the French language. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28 with a reception to follow.
