Wilma Margaret Halliday (Christie)
Peacefully on Thursday, April 1, 2010, Wilma Christie, beloved wife of the late William Shepherd Halliday (d. 1990), loving mother of Anne (Peter Aston) of Kingston, and John (Nancy) of Barrie. Proud grandma of Katherine, Jonathan (Laurie) and Lorraine (Thomas Sharp) Aston, and Christopher (Nina), Carolyn (Tom Mulhall) and Bill Halliday. Great-grandmother of Lillian, Aiden, Cameron, Nora and Sophie. Predeceased by her parents Dr. John D. Christie and Velva Farrow, her sisters Gladys Hall and Helen Pashby, their husbands Dr. Harry Gibson Hall and Dr. Tom Pashby and her niece Arlene Wroe. Survived by her nieces Lynne (Jim Carnie) Hall and Jane Pashby and nephews Harry (Marian) Hall, Bill (Liz) Pashby, Bob (Penny) Pashby and Dave Wroe. Wilma loved children. As a young mom she taught in the Sunday school at Leaside United Church, and was active in Home & School at Rolph Road School. Later she volunteered for many years at the C.N.I.B. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff of 4N, NYGH, and the caregivers from Eldercare and CCAC who showed such kindness to Wilma in recent months. A special thank you to Mary the nurse who cared for all of us. Private funeral. Family and friends are invited to meet to celebrate Wilma's life on Sunday, April 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the party room at The Classic, 85 Skymark Drive, North York.
