On behalf of all your colleagues at Fisheries and Oceans, Joan, I wish you, Katy and Tim our sincerest condolences on Mike's very untimely passing. We can only imagine the sorrow you are experiencing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you throughout these days of shock of this news. At times like this, among the moments of dwelling on our loss, we catch ourselves thinking about the difference our loved ones made here with us on this planet. You know you can take comfort in knowing that Mike's legacy will live on forever in you, his family, as well as in the wonderful things he accomplished professionally. It was with deep shock and the greatest sympathy that we heard of Mike's death. We respected and admired him as a man and as the father of Timothy and Katy, our lovely grandchildren. Our thoughts go out to Joan and to Tim & Katy.

Dear Joan and Family, Hardie told me about Michael. He was way too young. I am sorry for you and your children as I remember all too well when Hardie and I lost our father at 58.
