Obituary of John Heintzman

John (Jack) Douglas Heintzman April 8th, 1927 - July 3rd, 2012 Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his home in Horseshoe Valley on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012. Jack is survived by his wife Fay, his children Marion, Michelle, John and James (Corrie) and his grandchildren Wyatt, Maya, Blaise, Adrian and Anika. Predeceased by his parents Charles Theodore and Marion and his brother Charles Herman. Born in Toronto and raised on the family farm Sunnyside Manor in Thornhill, now known as Heintzman House. Educated at St. Andrew's College, Jack went to work in the family business Heintzman & Co. Following his years with Heintzman & Co., subsequent business ventures led him to Greavette Boatworks in Gravenhurst and Arawak Club in Gregory Town, Bahamas. Jack was an avid equestrian and farmer who devoted years of service to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and Royal Horse Show. Jack spent many summers at the family cottage in Muskoka sharing his passion for the outdoors with his wife and children. After years of living in Toronto, Jack and Fay retired to the farm in Horseshoe Valley. Jack was truly happiest while on the farm walking with his dog and tinkering with his tractor. He loved fishing, boating and tending to his garden, but most of all spending time with family. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 9th.
