I will always cherish in my heart the 20 years I spent my summers at Leidra Lodge, time spent chatting with Daisy, Robert and June. If not for my Uncle Arthur Jarman I would never have met the Ardiel family and had the privilege of living 20 of my summers on Clear Lake. It was due to them that I fell in love with the place and it's family which allowed me to make my life's dream come true of living up near the Lodge, owning my own custom sport fishing lure company Fish Master Lures Ltd. become a reality as well as having guided on the lake for 43 years now. Forever will I be indebted to June & family for allowing me to make my life's dream come true. I will always drop a white water lily every year on the front dock in loving memory.

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of June. We were in Florida when June died and did not find out about her passing until today. I first knew June through the personalized Christmas cards she sent to my mom and dad. I always looked forward as a young child to see the very special cards come to our home from my Uncle Robert's artistic sister. Although I never got to know June well over the years I always enjoyed talking to her or getting an e-mail about how she was doing. My uncle Robert, Edna, Robert's father Lorne and my cousin Barry all died far too soon. I was a teenager when my cousin Barry died so suddenly from cancer. His death devastated the family, and combined with the death of my uncle Robert led to an early death for my aunt Edna. I can fondly remember going to Leidra Farm and seeing my uncle's favourite horse Archangel. He was so very proud of his accomplishments at Ardiel Advertising and those of his very talented sister who provided artistic leadership. My wife Sue and I will miss hearing about all the wonderful things June kept doing over the years including the donation of the cottage on Clear Lake, a lake I remember as a child where Evinrude motors pictures were taken of my aunt Edna and other close friends of their family. Rest in peace June. You will be missed. Sue and Al Beattie Agincourt, Ontario

The Ardiel family of Windsor and Toronto were a small group, descended from some of the earliest settlers of Middlesex County, who arrived in London Township in the year 1819. June was an especially valued cousin who represented the last of our parents generation. I could share with June all the genealogical research I undertook. She appreciated learning about the Ardiel family and encouraged me in my quest. June would round out all the names and dates I supplied with wonderful memories and stories of those family members who had passed away before. June was encouraging in other ways. About fifteen years ago when she was about 75 and I, 50 years of age, she kindly suggested I should begin e-mailing, as she found that method easier than hand-writing letters! June enjoyed following all the new additions to the family and was a mother-figure to us all. We shall miss her and remember her always . . . Susy (Ardiel) Ruch On behalf of the family of J.R. My deepest sympathy in the loss of June. She and I were friends and co-conspirators in the Evening & Weekend Group of Docents at the Art Gallery of Ontario in the second half of the 1980's June's wide experience in the art world, her wry wit and her intelligence and humour always made our sessions at the Gallery alive with possibilities. Just yesterday while walking about downtown during my lunch break it came to mind that June had compiled a book on public sculpture in the city and how I had marvelled at her having undertaken the task on her own and completed the task on her own time and funded it herself! Hats off to you, June! Ed Phillips
