JOHN H. ADDISON
Born December 18, 1929, he passed away peacefully on February 23, 2010, in his 81st year surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Joan (Burns) for 53 years, he will be fondly remembered by their three children: Jock (Karen), Toni Dixon (Howie), Kate Parker (Rich), along with eight grandchildren: Chris, Emily, Michael, Bob, Olivia, Madeline, Grace and Tom. His brothers Clarke & Wayne, predeceased by his brother Harry.Educated at Pickering College and Upper Canada College, he was a University of Toronto graduate. Ever a sportsman, he played defence for the hockey team which won the coveted Queen's Cup in 1951. Drafted by the Chicago Black Hawks, the legendary Conn Smythe advised a career in business. He joined his father at City Buick and there began his 50-year association with General Motors. Representing the riding of York North, he was elected to Parliament in 1962. In 1964 he chaired the Flag Committee.
