John, Carey, John Jr.& Tom. It is with much regret that we learned of Della's untimely passing, and Al and I wish to express our sincere condolences to all of you. While we all came together at the U.W.O. in 1965, we got to know Della intimately. Her upbeat manner and infectious laugh made difficult days for some so much easier; Della was very supportive to many....and to us in particular. We can always recollect those days when several of you worked in T.O. staying at the DKE house with Allan, while some of us with children stayed in London. Della was always there with a ready phone call and cherry outlook, and a laugh that was priceless. As time went on and we experienced some traumatic family issues, we so appreciated Della's concern, ongoing visits, and again, her cheery outlook. We regret not being able to attend the memorial for Della, having been beseiged with family death and distress of our own in Athabasca.....however.... please know we think of you and will miss Della beyond words. Love and Hugs to all.... Rosie and Allan McKenzie

To Della's family: I'm so sorry to hear she is gone. I had the pleasure of working with her at Jean Tweed - ostensibly as her boss for a period of time but we all knew who bossed who! Her smile, commitment to the women at a time when they were most vulnerable and her feistiness were all qualities they drew support from and admired. Many a client would say "it was Della who brought me back or made me stay". She will be missed.

“Gaily I lived as ease and nature taught, and spent my little life without a thought, and am amazed that Death, that tyrant grim, should think of me, who never thought of him. “ To live freely and to live well is perhaps our greatest triumph. I did not know Della, but I do know her daughter, Carey. Seeing Carey and seeing with whom Carey has chosen to surround herself, I can only believe that Della was a wise, kind and generous woman. A woman very much like René Francois Regnier, whose words I quote above, had in mind. Our deepest condolences to the Broens. It is our greatest wish that life, not death, lingers longest in the mind. With All Our Love, Humboldt, Susan and Nicholas (The Sheridan Tresniowskis)

Dear John and Family. I am so grateful that Della was part of my journey during our lifetime. Her infectious laugher, made the day for the staff at Jean Tweed and her kindness to all made work a pleasure. Her main achievement in life was the love and care she gave to her family. I will remember her humor and kindness to me on many occasions. May God be with her family and friends during this painful time. Special memories and love dear Della.
